MHS Pirate Band to Hold Bingo Fundraiser on Monday, December 8
The MHS Pirate and McCraw Junior High School band members and the Band Booster Club will hold a bingo fundraiser on
Monday, December 8 at the Event Center. The bingo games begin at 7 p.m. An eight dollar donation will buy fifteen
games and one black out. Carne Quisada plates will be available beginning at 5 p.m. for $6.

Weber-Hardin Students Win Bikes for Fundraising Efforts |

Every fall Weber-Hardin Elementary students raise money to fund school events and activities. The fund raiser is called the Red Apple where classes and students compete to raise the most money for the fund. The 2008 winners are Kataryna Smith, in Mrs. Pam Gonzales first grade class, and Makayla Aguilar in Mrs. Michelle Davila’s first grade class. Kataryna raised $284 and Makayla raised $268. Ms. Patti Lea’s second grade class raised $870.50 to take the class award. |

Athletic Boosters Club Selling Pirate Flags |

Mrs. Rosalina Pena, and Mrs. Carolyn Sowers of the Athletic Boosters Club presented Dr. Maria Rodriguez-Casas, Superintendent of Schools, with a Pirate flag. Mrs. Pena asked that the district office and all campuses fly the Pirate flag every Friday. The Athletic Boosters Club is advocating that community groups and citizens fly the Pirate flag every Friday to support the district sport teams. The Athletic Boosters Club is selling the Pirate flags for $50. |

Weber-Hardin Elementary Hosts 425 Parents and Families for Thanksgiving Lunch |

Weber-Hardin Elementary cafeteria and some classrooms were crowded with parents and families of students sharing Thanksgiving lunch on Thursday, November 20. The cafeteria staff began cooking at 5 a.m. for the 425 guests and the 675 students. District-wide 2,200 lunches were served to celebrate Thanksgiving. |

THE MATHIS INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT ADOPTED A TAX RATE THAT WILL RAISE MORE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS THAN LAST YEAR'S
TAX RATE. THE DISTRICT'S TAX RATE FOR YEAR 2008 WILL BE $1.35 PER $100 OF PROPERTY VALUE. THIS RATE CONSISTS OF $1.17 FOR MAINTENANCE
AND OPERATIONS AND $0.18 FOR THE DEBT SERVICE FUND.
